The Pisgah Banjo Co. Cherry Custom Dobson: one of the prettiest belles at the banjo ball, in our opinion. Like all Pisgahs, it's constructed of local appalachian hard woods, and this model has all the trimmings that make it top-notch: a paddle peg head shape, 3 piece neck and dowel rod, laminated fingerboard, and fretboard scoop. To top it all off, Pisgah's new hardware from Balsam Banjo works looks downright fantastic; it's USA made and everything from the tailpiece to the tension hoop to the tone ring are beautifully vintaged brass.
The sound of this instrument is up front, full, and perfectly old-timey. A bit rounder and more overtone heavy than its walnut cousin that we have in the shop, this is a nice lyrical banjo. A serious old-time player that wants a sustainably, locally sourced instrument can just stop looking: this is it.
