Music Lessons

Music lessons are provided at 214 Main Street in Brattleboro Vermont. Christian Glines offers instruction in acoustic guitar, electric guitar, clawhammer banjo, mandolin and ukulele. Lessons are tailored to the individual and include both theory and technique. Lessons typically are scheduled in 30 minutes sessions and are once per week. About Christian Glines

I first came into contact with American roots music while attending Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington. Coming off a stint of studying Jazz at the Berklee College of Music, I found it refreshing to meet so many young talented musicians playing various styles of roots music like Gypsy Swing, Bluegrass and Old Time. Evergreen was a fertile ground for musicians; many of which have become respected players in the field and I flourished in this collective energy. This spurred me to study ethnomusicology where I traced many of these music’s back to the countries that they originated from. I became focused on the point in time when these music’s were brought to America and underwent a metamorphosis that resulted in what we now know to be American music. My explorations resulted in becoming adept in clawhammer banjo, ukulele, mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar. My repertoire draws from a blend of blues, swing, jug band, honky-tonk, rockabilly, bluegrass, and old time.
