James Goodall guitars are always built for a full tone and great sustain. This Aloha model Concert Jumbo Goodall guitar certainly has those qualities, and it also has a nice definition with a pick and a warmer reedier low end than most other Goodalls. The mahogany and sitka combination on this guitar pair really well with the luthier's sensibilities to create a very even, loud, and strummable instrument.
In addition to its exemplary tone and comfortable setup, the cosmetics of this guitar are very pleasing. The mahogany is nice and even, the Sitka top is very smooth with some light silting, and the binding and overlays are all clean and attractive. Distinctive notes on this model in particular include a really lush figured koa headstock overlay and cool wenge bridge, fretboard, and truss rod cover (top adjusting). .
It's clear from this instrument's open tone that it has been played in well, but it is in overall very good cosmetic shape. There are a couple pocks on the top and some shallow squiggly marks on the back - likely from a jean rivet - but most of the instrument is pretty clean and clear of blemishes. It also has a well-installed clear pickguard and a K&K transducer pickup with an endpin jack that pairs very well with this guitar's sound.
A great deal on a wonderful instrument from a highly regarded builder.
