Rigel instruments are made up in Jeffersonville, Vermont by luthier Pete Langdell. His unique Rigel mandolins feature his own one-piece back/sides design of sold Vermont rock maple. This chamber is cut and carved from one maple block which is then fitted with a carved, tuned spruce top; this allows for curved, "radiused" sides, and a very comfortable and distinctive shape.
This A+ Deluxe has a sweet voice that's throaty in the low range and clear and bell like in the trebels. Because it's so clear and singing, this instrument particularly excells at single line melodic playing like jazz and celtic/northern roots fiddle tunes, and the internal pickup makes aplification for gigging as simple as it gets. Like all Rigels, this is simply an exceedingly comfortable and enjoyable mandolin to play!
